Cotton pique is a durable, medium-weight fabric recognised by its distinctively raised, textured surface. Rather than referring to a specific material, "pique" refers to the weaving style used to create the fabric, which is most commonly woven from 100% cotton.
- High Breathability: The textured weave creates tiny gaps in the fabric. These air pockets allow air to circulate freely around the body, making it exceptionally cool to wear in hot climates.
- Moisture Management: The textured surface increases the fabric's overall surface area, which helps it absorb sweat quickly and hide moisture marks better than flat, plain-weave cotton.
- Structure and Durability: Pique holds its shape incredibly well. It has a slightly stiff drape that resists wrinkling and curling, which is why it is famous for holding the crisp structure of a collar.
- Low Maintenance: It is generally machine washable and requires very little ironing thanks to its textured, wrinkle-masking surface.
