Cotton denim is a rugged, heavyweight textile woven entirely from cotton yarn. Arguably one of the most iconic and universally recognized fabrics in the world, denim is defined by its sturdy, warp-faced twill weave.
- The Twill Weave: Denim is created using a twill weave, which is easily recognized by the subtle diagonal ribbing on the surface of the fabric. This weaving style makes the fabric incredibly strong and tear-resistant.
- Breathability: Because it is made entirely from natural cotton fibers, denim is surprisingly breathable despite its weight and thickness, allowing air to circulate and heat to escape.
- Molding and Softening: Pure cotton denim starts off notoriously stiff. However, with consistent wear, the natural cotton fibers relax and soften, eventually molding perfectly to the shape of the wearer's body.
- Durability: Cotton is reasonably durable and can withstand regular wear and tear.
